Peak Performance: At Work and Play

A Q&A with Christi Rowe

Last Updated 4 Year(s) ago

For this month's member spotlight, we caught up with Campus Recreation team member and outdoor enthusiast, Christi Rowe.

Q: What does a routine day at the Recreation and Wellness Center consist of for you?

I generally start every workout with a short run on the track and then either lift weights on the main floor, climb at the rock wall, or continue with a cardio workout. Cardio workouts usually consist of using the Jacobs Ladder machine, running intervals on the track, or a leg circuit for me.

Q: If you were a cartoon character, who would you be?

Sandy from SpongeBob

Q: We’ve heard your passion is “the great outdoors.” Tell us your favorite outdoor memory?

Last semester was a very academically challenging semester for me and in October some friends and I went up to Chattanooga to climb at Foster Falls. The leaves were at their peak color, the weather was amazing, and the company was great. It was a very relaxing weekend.

Q: Do you have any unique abilities?

I was on a unicycle team in elementary school. I’m also on Google maps riding a unicycle on Auburn’s campus in front of the science lab building.

Q: If you could be any piece of rental equipment from Auburn Outdoors, what would you be and why?

I would be a headlamp because they go on almost every adventure and get to see some beautiful places and people.

Q: What is your major and what do you like most about it?

Exercise Science. I want to be a physical therapist and I love that I will have a job where I am on my feet and moving around all day while also getting to help people through an injury.

Q: Are there any Rec Center hacks that you can share with us?

The Jacob’s Ladder machines are great if you don’t have a lot of time but want a hard, full body workout.

Q: If you could only eat three foods for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Spaghetti, Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter, and sweet potatoes.

Q: Finish this sentence: What was I thinking when…?

… I decided to start rock climbing. I am absolutely petrified of heights.

Q: What’s your favorite Auburn tradition?

I really enjoy singing the alma mater after football games.
